Shooting “shocking” at US hospital, at least 5 people died

Service shootings happened at 16:52 (local time) at St. Francis in the city of Tulsa, when a man armed with a rifle appeared on the hospital premises. A police spokesman said a total of five people, including four civilians and the gunman, were killed.

According to a post on Facebook by the Tulsa Police Department, police received a call to report a man walking with a rifle at the Natalie Medical building – the doctor’s office on the hospital campus. St. Francis.

According to Tusla police captain Richard Meulenberg, when police began to respond, the suspect opened fire. When police entered the building, they found several people shot.

The Tulsa Police Department posted a statement on Facebook: “We can confirm the suspect is dead. Officers are scouring the hospital room by room to rule out other threats.”

Authorities have yet to identify the gunman but added that the suspect is a black male between 35 and 40 years old. Police said the gunman is believed to have committed suicide.

The captain of the Tusla police squad said to ABC News it was a “catastrophic sight”. “We are dealing with the case as a catastrophic crime scene right now,” Meulenberg said.

Health System St. Francis closed the campus on the afternoon of June 1 because of the situation at the Natalie Medical building. Aerial helicopter images show first responders lifting the shooting victim onto a stretcher and leaving the hospital building.

Dozens of police cars were parked outside the hospital complex. An area has been set up for families to find loved ones at the nearby high school.

Mrs. Debra Proctor told the radio CNN that she heard police sirens go off. She was making an appointment to see a doctor in another building on the hospital campus when the shooting took place. When she stepped outside, she saw first responders everywhere.

Despite working as a nurse for 40 years, when witnessing the scene, Mrs. Proctor had to say that it was a “shocking” scene. Ms. Proctor said: “Police were everywhere in the parking lot, going up and down all the blocks around. There were still more people coming when I left.”

Meanwhile, Kalen Davis, a resident of Tulsa, was waiting for a car around 5 p.m. when he saw several police cars coming to the scene. The video she shared with the radio CNN recorded the authorities running towards the building and drawing guns. Two officers removed long guns from the trunk as ambulances continued to rush to the scene.

Kalen Davis said: “I knew it was a shooting because I saw police running with rifles. That moment made my emotions mixed.”

After the shooting, the White House said President Joe Biden was briefed on the shooting. The White House “is closely monitoring the situation and has reached out to state and local officials to offer assistance.”
