Vietnam won the best result ever at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad

The Quality Management Department, Ministry of Education and Training said that it has just received official information from Egypt about the results of the 2022 Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad of the Vietnamese national team. Accordingly, all 7/7 candidates participating in the award consideration won medals, including 3 Gold and 4 Silver medals.

Three students won the Gold Medal: Truong Van Quoc Bao, 12th grader, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An Province; Duong Minh Khoi, 12th grader, High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Tran Xuan Bach, 11th grader, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Four silver medals belonged to the following students: Le Huu Nghia, 12th grade student, Binh Long High School for the Gifted, Binh Phuoc Province; Nguyen Nhat Minh, 12th grader, High School for the Gifted of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Vu Huy Hoang, 12th grader, Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh Province; Tran Khoi Nguyen, 12th grader, High School for the Gifted, Hanoi National University of Education.

The 2022 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad will be held in the form of an online competition; Egypt is the host country. The Vietnam national team consists of 15 contestants, taking the online exam at the University of Technology, Hanoi National University on May 29, 2022, the Organizing Committee has prepared all plans to prevent the COVID-19 epidemic; At the same time, the prevention and control of COVID-19 has been carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Health sector. According to the regulations of the Organizing Committee of the Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad, Vietnam can choose 07 candidates with the highest scores to participate in the award consideration.

At the 2022 Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad, 888 contestants from 35 countries and territories participated; As a result, 186 contestants won prizes, including 17 Gold Medals, 74 Silver Medals, 95 Bronze Medals. Vietnam has 07 children participating in the ranking, all winning medals, accounting for 100%.

At this year’s contest, there are 06 countries and territories with gold medals: China (06), Russia (05), Vietnam (03), Singapore (01), Korea (01), Taiwan (01) . According to the medal ranking, Vietnam ranks 3rd after China and Russia. This achievement is better than the previous year (in 2021, Vietnam has 02 Gold medals, 01 Silver medal and 03 Bronze medals). After 10 years of participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, this is the year Vietnamese students achieved the best results.

Following the results of the Asia-Pacific Physics Olympiad in 2022, the results of the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad have confirmed the efforts and efforts of students, teachers and schools that have been active, Actively reviewing and fostering in the context of complicated developments of the COVID-19 epidemic, Vietnamese students still affirm their high position in the regional and international intellectual arena.
