Vietnamese students win 7 gold and silver medals at the Asian Informatics Olympiad

Three students won the Gold Medal: Truong Van Quoc Bao, 12th grade, Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An Province; Duong Minh Khoi, 12th grade, High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University; Tran Xuan Bach, 11th grade, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University.

Vietnam won 7 gold and silver medals at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad.

The 2022 Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad is held in the form of an online competition and this year Egypt is the host country. The Vietnamese national team consists of 15 contestants, taking the online exam at the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. According to the regulations of the Organizing Committee of the Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad, Vietnam is selected to select 7 candidates with the highest scores to participate in the award consideration.

Four Silver Medals belonged to the following students: Le Huu Nghia, grade 12, Binh Long High School for the Gifted, Binh Phuoc Province; Nguyen Nhat Minh, 12th grade, High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University; Vu Huy Hoang, 12th grader, Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh Province; Tran Khoi Nguyen, 12th grader, High School for the Gifted, Hanoi National University of Education.

At the 2022 Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad, 888 contestants from 35 countries and territories participated. As a result, 186 contestants won prizes, including 17 Gold Medals, 74 Silver Medals, 95 Bronze Medals. Vietnam has 7 students participating in the ranking and all won medals, accounting for 100%.

At this year’s contest, according to the medal ranking method, Vietnam ranked 3rd after China and Russia. This achievement is better than the previous year (in 2021, Vietnam has 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals). After 10 years of participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad, this is the year Vietnamese students achieved the best results. This affirms the efforts and efforts of students, teachers and schools that have actively and actively reviewed and fostered in the context of the complicated development of the COVID-19 epidemic.
