CEO Changpeng Zhao: Vietnam has many great opportunities with Blockchain

Reporter: How do you assess the opportunities for Blockchain technology in Vietnam?

Mr. Changpeng Zhao: I think the community here is very active. Young Vietnamese people are very interested in Blockchain technology. And the people here have a solid technical background so they seem to understand a lot of the technical details. So I think the potential is very high. I think that if Vietnam has the opportunity, it will seize that opportunity, it will bring great economic benefits to Vietnam in the future. There are many difficulties when this industry is so young.

Reporter: Many people only see Blockchain as an opportunity to make money in the short term. And you, what is your opinion?

Mr. Changpeng Zhao: I don’t speculate. For me this is an investment, it is the future of technology. I won’t go back to the old stuff. It’s like everyone now uses email instead of handwritten letters. For me, it’s innovation, not speculation. I myself cannot make an accurate prediction of what the market will be like tomorrow.

Reporter: Most people confuse Blockchain with Crypto Currency so they are still afraid of this technology. How to change this thinking?

Mr. Changpeng Zhao: Blockchain is not just a cryptocurrency or a digital asset, but much more than that. This technology can be used in electronic identification, digitization of real estate, copyright protection or software distribution. Vietnam has a very strong software industry, your products are present all over the world, with offices on all continents. And so, I think things about Blockchain are really just getting started. If we create a transparent business environment and let start-ups develop new things, I believe that in the next few years, Vietnam will have many unicorns in the Blockchain field.
