‘I’m not 18’ director to make survival thriller

The work revolves around a group of close friends from high school who organize a picnic to mark their 10-year friendship. The fun turns into a nightmare when the group must fight for life with a beast in the forest. The project marks the return of the cooperation of Kaity Nguyen and Le Thanh Son later I’m not 18 yet – The film has earned a revenue of 171 billion VND, is expected to be released in 2023.

The director kept Kaity Nguyen’s role a secret, saying that the character is psychologically heavy and requires high acting skills. He said: “The film will be the most challenging project physically and mentally. We try our best to find out so that the role does not repeat the old color in the movie. I’m not 18 yet“.

Le Thanh Son invites Tuan Tran starred because of his acting impression in the movie Godfather (2021). When reading the script, the actor immediately accepted the job because he believed the work was his breakthrough in the profession. He turned down many other movie offers, only accepting invitations to participate roof – Tran Thanh’s new movie. He spends his salary to invest in learning to play musical instruments and beatbox – due to his role as a music producer. The film requires a lot of high-strength scenes, the actors participate in sports courses, go to the gym to improve endurance.

The team invested heavily in CGI (visual effects). They invite foreign experts to study in many workshops for the creation of monsters. Just the color of the moonlight, the team spent months trying to find a way to represent it honestly. Sound is also an important factor, as 60-70% of the film takes place in the dark.

The director said that after the violent scenes, the film has a human meaning: the struggle with the beast is a process of survival in the midst of natural adversity so that each person can draw their own lessons. Le Thanh Son is also optimistic because of the recent censorship stage open-heart morewhen 18+ works like Sweet Trap, Ghost stories near home in theaters without cutscenes.

Le Thanh Son was born in 1974, graduated from Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music. He turned to the film industry, enrolled in directing at the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. He holds the role of deputy director of the films Ha Dong silk shirt, Heroic blood… In 2009, he did Dragon trap – action movies with the presence of Ngo Thanh Van and Johnny Tri Nguyen. In 2017, he made I’m not 18 yet, became the most popular Vietnamese film in history at that time.

Kaity Nguyen was born in 1999 in Ho Chi Minh City and grew up in the US. In 2017, she shone with her debut role in I’m not 18 yet co-starred with Kieu Minh Tuan. In 2019, she acted in a movie Papa’s soul, girl’s skin with Thai Hoa. In 2020, Blood moon party – the movie she participated in with Thu Trang, Thai Hoa… – achieved a revenue of 155 billion dong after a month of release. In 2021, she starred in Old girls are very skilled – film by Bao Nhan, Nam Cito – with artists Le Khanh, Hong Van.

Tuan Tran was born in 1992, used to work as a model before entering movies. He participated in many TV series, web dramas, acted in MVs of singers. Recently, he starred in the movie Beauty lies, Godfather… Work Godfather – revenue of 430 billion VND, Tran Thanh co-produced – brought him a prize “Best Actor” at the Vietnam Film Festival 2021.
