Which of Hanoi and 12 provinces and cities have refused or have not received the Covid-19 vaccine?

Three localities refused to receive and applied for the transfer of Pfizer vaccines to other places: Hanoi, Hai Duong, and Thanh Hoa (a total of nearly 373,000 doses, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the vaccines that had not been received in the entire Northern region). .

As for Hanoi, for nearly 2 weeks now, the city has not given vaccines to children aged 5-11. The number of doses of vaccines given to children according to the Hanoi Department of Health’s report by the end of June 1 is still 170,770 doses.

Previously, Hanoi’s authorities checked that there were more than 1 million children aged 5-11. In addition, there are more than 6,600 children in this degree who do not go to school but live in the city.

The 10 places that have not yet received the allocated number of vaccines are Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, An Giang, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Hau Giang (the total number of unreceived vaccines is more than more than 10). 1.2 million doses).

In addition, up to 22 new localities received part of the allocated vaccines.

This information was reported by the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology at an online meeting to review the progress of vaccination between the Ministry of Health and 63 provinces and cities on June 1.

According to the institute, there are more than 2.7 million doses of vaccines for both adults and children in existence in localities.

The reason was pointed out that the implementation of vaccination faced many difficulties, the subjects who were vaccinated were not high. This leads to low demand for vaccines, along with the number of vaccines stored at the national level with a high risk of excess and expired must be discarded.

For the 13 provinces and cities that have not yet received the allocated vaccines, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology proposes to urgently receive them for vaccination, 3-4 injections for people. In the immediate future, the deadline for receiving the first batch is 6/6.

However, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen suggested that these 13 localities must receive them immediately, until June 3.

In the event that a locality does not accept it, Mr. Tuyen asked the Provincial People’s Committee to make a written commitment to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health, clearly stating: “Out of subjects, we will not receive vaccines anymore”.

“If there is an outbreak, the locality will be responsible,” Mr. Tuyen emphasized, because localities have not really drastically implemented the Prime Minister’s direction.

The above move of the leadership of the Ministry of Health is considered quite strong in the face of the fact that the progress of the 3rd dose vaccination, vaccination for children aged 5-11 is slowing down. For many weeks now, on average each week the Ministry of Health and the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology have issued 1-2 documents urging localities to speed up the progress of injections of 3rd, 4th and 5th injections for children aged 5- 5. 11 years old and receiving vaccines.

In the past 10 days, on average, the country has injected 100,000 3 doses per day for people aged 18 and over. The proportion of eligible people who received the 3rd injection was 61.8%.

Currently, more than 20 million people are eligible for the 3rd dose injection, however, with the current rate of reception and injection rate, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology believes that there is a high risk of not meeting the vaccination target and not used up millions of doses of Pfizer vaccine by the end of June.

As for the group of children aged 5-11, the total number of vaccines that have been and will be received is 18.5 million doses of Pfizer and Moderna (equivalent amount). Currently, Vietnam has received 14.5 million doses, the remaining 4 million doses will be received in June 2022.

It is expected that the number of children eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine in June will be about 3.6 million.

However, in the past 10 days, every day the country has only injected 94,000 doses, the progress of the first dose is about 35%. Up to 20 provinces/cities have injection rates below 30%.

Therefore, the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology frankly recognizes the risk of not meeting the vaccination target and not using up millions of doses of Pfizer children’s vaccine.
