Barca must spend 40 million euros if they want Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski has bluntly stated that he will not renew his contract with Bayern Munich and wants to play in another league. Barcelona seems to be the team that wants to recruit this Polish striker the most, however, financial problems are hindering this deal.

According to Bild, Barcelona need to spend 40 million euros if they want to have the services of the 33-year-old striker this summer. In addition, the Camp Nou team must also pay Lewy a salary commensurate with his talent. Previously, Barca put on the table to negotiate an amount of 30 million euros to buy back the striker’s one-year contract but was refused by the Bavarian partner.

However, if necessary, Lewandowski can be released for much less money. In particular, using Webster’s law allows Lewy to move elsewhere.

Webster’s Law (or FIFA’s Law 17) stipulates that any player who signs a contract with a team before the age of 28 has the right to buy the remainder of the contract if it has lasted for at least three years. Based on the fact that Lewandowski is 33 years old this year and has played for Bayern since 2014, of course the player born in 1988 has enough conditions to be able to pay for his own money to buy back the last year of his contract.

In the event Lewandowski applies Webster’s law, he will be free if he pays Bayern 24 million euros. This amount is equivalent to the salary Lewandowski enjoyed in his last season with the Bavarian team.
