Coach Gong Oh Kyun: “Vietnam U23 plays like warriors”
In the first match at the 2022 AFC U23 Championship, U23 Vietnam drew 2-2 against Thailand U23. This is the match where U23 Vietnam took the lead twice with beautiful goals from Phan Tuan Tai and Nguyen Van Tung. Speaking after the game, Coach Gong Oh Kyun of U23 Vietnam said: “The whole team tried their best, like warriors. And to me, that is the most important thing. The players did not have much time to practice, but still played well. I myself proud of them”.

I think this group of players are mostly newbies and they are always trying to express themselves. Even the players who were injured and had to leave the field early tried to give their best. I’m grateful to them for that.”
Explaining the fact that even after leading 2-1, Vietnam U23 still played offensively against Thailand U23, coach Gong Oh Kyun said: “I only focus on how to play and choose the kicking strategy for my team, not my team. not have to adapt to changes in the circumstances and playing style of the opponent”.
On June 5, U23 Vietnam will meet U23 Korea. Coach Gong Oh Kyun shared: “It’s true that I’m Korean, but now I’m working for Vietnam, so I will focus as much as possible and try to practice for the team to get good results. We will have to prepare well. for this match because Korea U23 is really strong”.
“Vietnam U23 still has 2 more matches, so the opportunity is still clear. I will have a plan for the next 2 matches and have absolute confidence in my players. There are a few players who have just kicked the injury, but the who did not qualify to compete today will return to prepare for the next two matches,” he closed.
