Drunk driver who hit three people to death was prosecuted

Bac GiangDriver Nguyen Duc Thinh, 35, was prosecuted for allegedly driving an Audi while drunk, knocking over a motorbike, killing three people.

According to initial investigation, on the evening of June 2, Thinh attended a farewell party to his old agency, used alcohol, sang karaoke, but still drove home.

Around 23:30 on June 2, Thinh drove an Audi through the Hung Vuong – Hoang Van Thu intersection, Ngo Quyen ward, Bac Giang city, when he hit a motorbike driven by Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, 48 years old, carrying his wife Duong. Thi Quyen, 44 years old, and her daughter Nguyen Thuy Duong, 13 years old. The impact caused the motorbike to be thrown up high, the three people on the car were thrown onto the sidewalk and died on the spot.

The victim’s family is in Tho Xuong ward, Bac Giang city. The three went to visit their eldest son, who was practicing in Hanoi, and when he returned, he had an accident.

The test results showed that the alcohol concentration in the driver’s breath was 0.604 mg/liter; Quick test without using drugs. This alcohol concentration is 1.5 times higher than the maximum penalty for violations under Decree 100 (the maximum fine is currently VND 40 million for violations of more than 0.4 mg/l breathing gas).

The leader of Bac Giang Province’s Department of Transport said that Thinh’s driver, who had just moved from the Provincial Development Investment Fund, under the Bac Giang Department of Finance, to the Road Maintenance Management Board, under the Provincial Department of Transport, was approved by the provincial Department of Transport. one month and three days. The Department has suspended this officer from work.

The Law on Prevention and Control of Alcohol Harms 2019 prohibits the act of driving a vehicle in road traffic with alcohol content in the blood or breath. If the violation causes consequences, the driver may be subject to administrative or criminal penalties.
