China is currently the country with the largest high-speed rail network in the world with a total length of up to 40,000 km. This country has up to 5 high-speed railway lines, the 5th reaching a speed of 350km/h.
China Railways annually transports hundreds of millions of passengers, but this number has dropped sharply due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In recent years, fatal accidents have rarely occurred on China’s railway network. Before that, in 2011, a high-speed train accident occurred in Wenzhou city, killing about 40 people and injuring nearly 200 others.
