Thought it was due to the weather, or worst of all, having COVID-19 but unexpectedly, the monstrous disease it had been in my body ever since I didn’t know it.“, Manh shared.
After a few dozen minutes on the side of the road, Manh was sober enough to drive back to his hometown. He decided to hide his wife, hide his family, hold his worries and negative thoughts alone. In a week, Manh lost 4kg, he was haggard and lost his vitality.
He began to have thoughts of running away, finding a way to leave his wife, leaving his hometown to work far away. He even thought about going to a new land and living the rest of his life.
“At that time, when I learned about cancer, I knew that few people could live, and if it was treated, it would be extremely expensive. So I decided not to treat but let go, depending on fate. At first, I lied to my wife that ‘next time I will go on a long business trip, maybe a few years or longer.‘”, Manh found an excuse to divorce his wife easily.
But things didn’t go as he wanted, the wife was suspicious, so she monitored and discovered he was lying after about 1 month. The secret was revealed, he told his wife all at once. The sister was shocked, sad and cried because she loved him, her children and herself. But she lifted his spirit, encouraged him to try, and the couple overcome.
“At that time, I used to say to my wife, ‘If you find someone good, I’ll take you back to see me. So that while he is still alive, he will know how his children will depend in the future. Every time I said that sentence, my wife burst into tears and encouraged me. I also have pain, at night watching my wife and children sleep makes me cry. But I want my wife and children to have a better life, not having to worry about a sick person like me, forcing me to do so.“, Manh confided.
Good luck with positive things
Although Mr. Manh is encouraged by his wife, he is always in a negative state. In an accidental message from a friend, Manh confided that he was dying and would soon leave the world, because he himself had cancer.
The family has always been the spiritual support for Manh to overcome everything.
“My friend’s sister encouraged me that many people have recovered from cancer and are still healthy until now… She took me down to the place to show me real people, real things.“, he said.
When he was encouraged by his sister, Manh became more mentally stable, feeling that he had a lucky stake to cling to.
Manh calmed down, decided to go to the hospital for examination. At that time, going to the hospital was extremely difficult because of the stressful COVID-19 epidemic, K hospital closed, he decided to go to Hanoi Oncology Hospital.
“When I entered the hospital, I was examined by a doctor and concluded that ‘your disease is good and carefree so you don’t have to worry’, my mentality is even more stable.“, Manh said.
After more than a month of being diagnosed with the disease, Manh underwent chemotherapy. During the treatment process, in addition to his next of kin, Manh was also accompanied by his close sister.
He combines chemotherapy with detoxification of the body and tries to add some necessary nutrients. Along with learning more deeply about cancer, he finds cancer is not as scary as he once thought.
Chemotherapy was nearly 1 month, his liver was affected, he transferred to Thanh Nhan Hospital for treatment for nearly 1 month, then returned home to live and work normally.
He boasted: “After chemotherapy for more than a week, the average person will feel very tired and can’t do anything, but I am the opposite. Although a bit tired, I still go to work as normal as if I have never been sick. It is very strange. magic“.
Three months later, Mr. Manh was informed by the doctor that the results were very good, the tumor at the biopsy site turned from malignant tumor to benign, there was no sign of cancer in his body. If the disease does not recur in 10 years, it will be completely cured.
“When I heard the doctor’s conclusion, I was indescribably happy. From a time like hell, to now when I receive the good news, I feel like I’m alive again.“, Manh shared.
Although very happy, Mr. Manh was still advised by the doctor to be careful in eating, to limit eating animal fat, to drink alcohol…, to eat healthy and to add lots of vegetables because the disease is easy to relapse.
Since then, from a person who never refused a drink, Manh went to work and went straight home to take care of the house with his wife, playing with his children in his free time. Manh reflected on his life and felt more peaceful.
“After more than a year of going through a lot of ups and downs, I realized that cancer is not the final path. In fact, it doesn’t matter whether we live or die, on the contrary, let’s live meaningfully. At the same time, in each of us, when faced with a certain situation, the calmer we are, the higher our chances of survival. The more stalking, the more confused, the more there is no solution. And we should live positive, meet positive people like my sister so that we can have good things“, Manh shared.
