Ms. Truong Thi Thanh Thanh is the older sister of Mr. Truong Gia Binh – Chairman of FPT Corporation; She is also the only female face on the founding board of the business. Currently, at the age of seven decades old, Ms. Thanh only focuses on volunteering – running the Hope Fund and no longer participates in business activities of FPT Corporation.
According to Ms. Thanh, since 2010, FPT Corporation has oriented a new strategy: the CSR segment must be strongly developed in parallel with the development of the business. Therefore, it can be seen that FPT Corporation has more than 20 years of experience CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and in the last few years gradually switched to working CSV (Creating Shared Value) – Creating shared valueby establishing the Hope fund in 2017.
“Over the past 30 years, FPT’s leadership has always said that it is not enough for a strong company or a strong individual. To make everyone happy, there must be a strong society; Therefore, the responsibility of the Board of Directors as well as the Group is to contribute to social change.
If you want to do that, you have to gradually switch from CSR to CSV. That’s why Hope Fund was born. Hope Fund was licensed by the Ministry of Home Affairs in February 2017 and is a way for FPT to give back to life“, Ms. Truong Thi Thanh Thanh expressed.

However, even after having the Hope fund, FPT Corporation and its 30,000 employees did not give up charity or CSR programs but developed in parallel.
“With its position and heart, through the Hope fund, FPT wants to act as a bridge so that organizations and individuals who want to do kind things or do useful things for society have an easier way.
Although FPT is a large corporation in Vietnam and the Hope Fund is a social organization that is ‘righteous and honest’ when licensed by the State, in order to propagate and persuade individuals and organizations to support the fund, it is not necessary. easily. Still have doubts and stop being shy.
However, in order to be able to do something greater than my ability, even if the road is more difficult, I – Hope Foundation – FPT will never give up. I believe that, in the future, with the development of society, our calling or acting as a bridge will be more favorable.“, Chairman of Hope Fund, commented.
In fact, in 2017, after many years before getting a license to establish a charity fund, FPT had a year of sitting still because “don’t know what to do”. Ms. Thanh said to herself: should I focus on flood relief or natural disasters like before? Actually, going to flood relief is very easy to touch the emotions of others and do it immediately – easy to call for support, so it’s easy for fund managers like Ms. Thanh.
“At that time, we thought a lot. If you continue to do the old way: flood, go to help, from time to time go to a shelter or a nursing home to visit…; Where is the creativity? In 10 to 20 years, what will the Hope fund celebrate?
At that time, my staff also said: don’t tell me first, the fund must have existed until then“, Mrs. Thanh recalled.
The bridges are made from the fund of the Program “Raise your steps to school”.
And after many meetings, FPT and Hope Fund have come to a decision: continue to carry out CSR campaigns with immediate effect, but will find a voluntary path for development. That is, in addition to bringing immediate value to family/team/neighborhood, they also want to bring value to millions of people over decades.
So, currently, Hope Fund has 2 programs: “School Light” – build new schools and equip textbooks for students in mountainous areas; “Raise my steps to school” – construction of concrete bridges in the Mekong Delta.
According to this President, after several years of implementation, she found these two projects very feasible and effective, bringing long-term value to society. While monkey and iron bridges are unsafe and only have a shelf life of 3 to 5 years, concrete bridges are both strong and long lasting – 15 to 20 years. FPT has pioneered so that everyone can see and follow – support. Because, no matter what, FPT alone can’t lose!
Program “Lifting your steps to school” started in 2018 and 200 bridges have been started by 12/2021; Hope fund’s goal is to have 250 bridges by the end of 2022.
Program “School Light” has carried out 15 projects with more than 50 classrooms and boarding rooms for hundreds of children in remote and isolated areas in Quang Nam, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, and Son La. In 2022, this program aims to build 10 more buildings with about 25 classrooms and ancillary works.
The schools are made from the funds of the “School Light” Program.
“In order for the above two development programs to go a long way, in addition to calling for donations from individuals and organizations, we also have to work and coordinate with local authorities, people and local youth. . FPT and the Hope Foundation always communicate that building schools or bridges is also local work and they are owned by local people.
To sum up, in order to have a sustainable development volunteer program, we need to well combine the strength of the locality and finance, to create synergy.“, Mrs. Thanh continued.
Thanh, since its establishment, the Hope Fund has received 112 billion VND in donations and from the beginning of 2022 to May 2022, has received over 26 billion VND in donations. ; so they can go a long way. In 2021, the Hope fund received 64 billion VND and the fund used it to support the pandemic, build bridges and schools.
Looking at the list of donations to the Hope fund, we can see that there are many people, from businesses contributing several billion to several hundred million to individuals contributing from 100 to 200 dong.
On the other hand, FPT and the Hope Fund are about to enter a new mission: to build a school for 1,000 orphans during the pandemic, so that they have a good environment to grow up and overcome adversity.
