On the evening of June 2, the Queen of England opened the light of the beacon, celebrating the Platinum anniversary from Windsor Castle, starting the lighting of thousands of beacons in the UK and many countries in the Commonwealth. The Queen is also the head of more than 10 countries in the bloc including Australia.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese posted a photo of the beacon lighting ceremony in Australia with the status line on Facebook: “This week marks the Queen’s Platinum Anniversary. During her 70-year reign, the Queen has always been a pillar of calm and strength. Tonight, along with 53 other nations of the commonwealth, we light our beacons to thank Her Majesty and send our warmest congratulations.”
