Egyptian archaeologists have discovered an ancient treasure of hundreds of coffins containing mummies, estimated to be about 2,500 years old.

About 250 coffins still sealed were found at the cemetery of sacred animals in Saqqara. Mostafa Waziri, secretary general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said the coffins are beautifully decorated, inside are the mummified bodies of their owners.
Besides the 250 ancient coffins, archaeologists found hundreds of statues of ancient Egyptian gods such as Anubis, Amun, Min, Osiris, Isis, Nefertum, Bastet and Hathor.
Mostafa Waziri said: “We found two beautiful wooden statues with golden faces of the gods Isis and Neftis, named as guardians of the coffin. Two wooden statues in a sitting position, next to a mandarin. One statue is placed at the top of the coffin, the other is placed at the foot, the position is called the mourner or the mourner for the deceased.

Notably, there is a headless statue of the architect Imhotep, who built the pyramid of Saqqara.
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, 250 coffins, 150 bronze statues and a number of other ancient objects.
A representative from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities said the landmark discovery of the Pi Ba, a musical instrument and a collection of bronze vessels used in ritual worship of the ancient Egyptian goddess of fertility Isis. grand. Most of the coffin is still in good condition, inside containing mummies, amulets and small wooden boxes.
“That’s not all,” said El-Waziri, Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. “We found the first intact papyrus in over 100 years, containing many hieroglyphs, up to 9 meters long. and carefully rolled up”.
The papyrus will be sent to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo for further analysis and study. Meanwhile, the coffins have been moved to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is being built near the Great Pyramids of Giza and is expected to open later this year.
