Come here to attend the event “Vietnam NFT Summit 2022 – Solutions for a new era” organized by Vietnam Blockchain Association, can you share your forecast about the NFT and metaverse market?
I can’t say what will happen tomorrow but I can say that in 10 years this market will be bigger, that’s what I think (laughs). I don’t know what the metaverse will look like in 10 years, but there will be more metaverses. I think it depends on the entrepreneurs who build this market.
In the short term, the NFT and metaverse are relatively new so the risk is high. Therefore, it is difficult to predict which NFTs may exist in 10 years or what people will use those NFTs to create.
Despite talking a lot about the major impacts of blockchain technology on the development of the economy, a lot of people who hear about blockchain are thinking of crypto (cryptocurrency) and the huge fluctuations in the market of this currency. What do you think about that?
The market always has fluctuations that are difficult to predict. Even Netflix stock can lose as much as 70% on the traditional stock market. But it’s also a fact that if the market doesn’t move, no one will invest, but who wants to invest when everything stays the same?
I think people have different goals when it comes to the blockchain world. Some people use it as a long-term investment tool, many others use it to raise capital through NFT… It can also be used as a tool for speculative trading. It’s the things that are new to blockchain that people are discovering.
In the traditional stock market, there are many speculators, only less than 10% are long-term investors who are long-term employees in the company. In the blockchain world it is similar, there are also long-term investors like that, but they are tied to the technology element and people expect them to be technological breakthroughs.
In Vietnam, there are opinions that blockchain regulations are not clear, they think that it is a big obstacle for the development of blockchain startups, as well as an easy scam. What do you think about the idea? this?
I think that making the statement that “there are no clear regulations on blockchain is a big obstacle for the development of blockchain startups”, is merely a perspective, not necessarily reality. With a new field, difficulties are natural. But if thinking is difficult, not investing or not doing anymore is not good.

With new technology fields, it’s good to have a lot of participants, and it’s also normal for many businesses to fail. However, when investing or doing business, not every failure is blamed on lack of regulation or on fraud.
Without a lot of people investing, without great competition, without those failures, there will be no success, especially without new breakthroughs in technology. It is important to encourage entrepreneurial spirit, which is very good for the development of technology as well as the economy.

I’m not here to comment on crypto. My opinion doesn’t matter. I think each of us should do a bit of self-study, so that we can make our own decisions. I do not comment on crypto, do not comment on prices, nor attempt to predict the future.
