For more than 2 years now, people in Le Loi ward, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city have been accustomed to separating waste at source into 2 types of organic and inorganic waste.

“After a year of implementation, we see clear results, from inside the house to the place where the garbage is dumped is very clean,” shared Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Le Loi ward, Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city.

If in the first phase, waste separation at source was only piloted in some public areas and residential clusters, now it has spread to all 4 inner districts of the city.

Hai Phong Urban Environment Company has developed a process for collecting and transporting organic and inorganic waste. Two types of waste are collected by two separate means to be processed, recycled… according to separate processes.

Organic waste, after microbial treatment, is put into composting, processed into organic humus, which is the main raw material for the production of organic fertilizers. With the promotion of treatment and recycling, the amount of landfilled waste in Hai Phong has decreased by 10%.

Along with the classification of domestic waste at the source, Hai Phong city is promoting the treatment and recycling of industrial waste, developing according to the trend of circular economy. A series of treatment and recycling facilities are encouraged to be built in eco-industrial parks, in order to treat and recycle waste right from the source.

“Reducing output waste and thoroughly exploiting all materials that should have been buried or discharged into the environment, but have been completely solved,” said Pham Hong Diep, Director of Nam Cau Kien Industrial Park. , Hai Phong city, said.
