The school strives to connect businesses, find jobs for students

Looking for internships in the midst of Covid-19, organizing large-scale job fairs, many schools strengthen links with businesses to ensure job opportunities for students.

On June 4, the campus of Hanoi University of Industry was packed with students participating in the “Job Day 2022” to approach nearly 100 domestic and foreign businesses.

According to statistics, more than 8,500 job opportunities were brought by the units, an increase of 50% compared to 2021 and 250% compared to 2020, making this year’s school job fair the largest scale ever. .

Present early, Hoang Thang, a final year student of Automotive Engineering Technology, went to the booths of 4-5 businesses to recruit positions related to the field of study. “This is an opportunity for me to get a good job soon,” Thang said.

Four years of studying at Hanoi University of Industry, up to three years Thang was affected by Covid-19. Although the school managed to help students learn theoretical parts online, divided groups to practice schools and was not affected with the final year internship, Thang believes that he and his classmates are disadvantaged when going through time. stay at home to prevent epidemic.

Normally, students majoring in Automotive Engineering Technology can go to auto workshops and garages to study and work from the first and second years at the same time. Early exposure to real work helps them firmly grasp their expertise, gain more experience, and improve their communication and problem-solving skills. But due to Covid-19, the time to work at the factory has decreased significantly.

“Knowledge in school is a part, I still have to learn from reality because each business has different requirements that force me to adapt. The fact that I haven’t been done much in practice makes me a bit worried”, Thang speak.

For Ngoc Linh, an accounting student, studying online makes her lack many skills. Academic performance is also affected.

“Today, when I went to school to interact with businesses, I found myself inexperienced in applying for jobs, confused about what to ask the employer to find out,” Linh said. All of this makes female students less confident about their chances when applying for jobs.

Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of the Center for Business Cooperation (Hanoi University of Industry), said that the concerns of students are completely grounded, especially after being affected by Covid-19 for a long time. The school grasped the general situation, so it changed its support models, helping them approach businesses to ensure a job when they graduate.

In 2021, it is not possible to organize direct business connection activities due to complicated developments of Covid-19, so the school gathers recruitment information and transfers it online to all students. They then choose the right business, register and then the school will transfer back to them to organize a face-to-face interview.

In the context of difficult practice and internships, the school connects with more businesses to ensure that students still have internships despite being affected by the epidemic. According to statistics in 2019, in the case of cooperation with 2,000 businesses, up to now, this number has reached more than 3,000.

According to Mr. Thanh, realizing that the recruitment demand after the epidemic is very large, the school must ensure the academic progress so that students can graduate on time. “The fact that students graduate on time ensures that they do not disrupt the human resource supply chain for businesses, helping students to have open job opportunities,” said Mr. Thanh.

Faced with the anxiety of post-Covid-19 students, Mr. Thanh emphasized that the school still has many support methods. Because the job positions tend to increase, final year students can rest assured to hone their knowledge and skills to be ready to join the labor market.
