Spinach is a vegetable that grows naturally in the water. When the rainy season comes, in the brackish water field, the clumps of spinach begin to grow and grow very well. They are small aquatic plants, live on wetlands, grow well in wet rice fields, swamps, ditches, canals… Vegetables grow upright in the soil, spongy stem, composed of leaf sheaths, 10 feet tall. -30 cm.

Then, when society developed, they would go down to the fields to pull vegetables, regardless of rain or shine, to sell at the local market or bring them to BaVet market in Cambodia to sell for between 30,000 and 40,000 VND/kg.

“For the people of my hometown, this vegetable is very familiar in daily meals. Just go to the field to pull back, remove the roots and leaves, take the stem, you will have a clean vegetable to eat. Recently, more tourists come to Tay Ninh, vegetables suddenly become a specialty favored by tourists because of their cleanliness and strange taste,” said the Western man.

Also according to Mr. Minh Phong, spinach can be used to process many dishes such as raw, boiled, stir-fried, salad… Especially, when eaten raw, there is no comparison.

Ms. Vu Anh (34 years old, HCMC) said: “Last year, I was fortunate to go to Bac Lieu for work and the most impressive thing for me was the trip to enjoy the steamed vegetables with fish sauce – a favorite specialty. The password attracts a lot of people who want to enjoy. I even got to experience the place, with a friend wading into the field behind their house to pull vegetables back to eat.

My friend said it’s rare now because people are starting to know about it more and more. But in the past, this area had a lot of vegetables! It often lives mixed in the rice fields.”

It is for sale for only 5,000 VND/bundle, cheaper than many other vegetables sold in the city,” said the Saigon woman.
