A male NTQ patient (53 years old, residing in Vinh Long province) was admitted to the hospital in a state of deep coma, cyanosis, very weak breathing.
It is known that in the morning of the same day of admission, the patient went to the back garden and was surprised bitten by a cobra into the right foot. After that, the patient felt pain and numbness in the right leg, the patient applied male medicine and sucked the blood of the bitten site out.
After more than an hour of being bitten by a snake, the patient’s family saw signs of drooping eyelids, increasing difficulty in speaking and breathing, so they took the patient to the emergency room.
Immediately upon receipt, the doctors quickly intubated and ventilated to stabilize the patient’s breathing, and at the same time urgently organized consultations with specialists.
The doctors unanimously decided to use anti-cobra venom serum to treat the patient. The patient was infused with 20 vials of antivenom serum.
By the evening of the same day, the patient had recovered, his reflexes were restored, his limbs started to move, he was weaned from the ventilator, his consciousness was awake, and his limbs were moving normally. Doctors expect the patient to be able to leave the hospital in the next few days.
According to doctors, this is a very dangerous case of a cobra bite. If not treated promptly, the patient will very quickly die due to respiratory muscle paralysis, circulatory failure, multi-organ damage.
Doctors recommend: For cases of suspected snakebite, even if it is determined that the snake has healed, do not arbitrarily treat the wound at home such as applying herbal medicine, applying leaves, sucking snake venom, using wire or garo. Tighten the bitten area… but immediately take the victim to the nearest medical facility for treatment and monitoring of the bite and complications.
Absolutely do not arbitrarily handle, delaying the time to the hospital will cause serious consequences, even death.
