The price of green vegetables increased rapidly, causing small traders to sell vegetables only in small quantities.

“From gasoline, gas, cooking oil, instant noodles, fish sauce to vegetables and meat, prices are increasing every day, but my husband and I still have the same income. I’m looking for a way to cut spending, but I don’t know what to cut or what to reduce because they are all necessary things in daily life, “said Ms. Hong.

Also surprised at the “expensive” price of green vegetables, Ms. Bui Thi Hue, residing in Thanh Xuan (Hanoi) said that usually in the summer, vegetables such as morning glory and spinach are very cheap. In previous years, it was only from 2 to 5 thousand VND / batch, but now it is over 10 thousand VND.

Many small traders dare not take water spinach to sell because the price is too high.

“In the past, water spinach in my area was only about 5 thousand VND / bunch, enough for a family of 4 people to eat a meal, but now it has reached 18,000 VND. Spinach is also 10 thousand VND / bunch, vegetables are 25,000 VND / kg, onions and garlic are also 55-60 thousand VND / kg. Going to the market seems to have lost money”, Ms. Hue sighed.

Waterlogging, rotting leads to the amount of green vegetables supplied to the market becoming scarcer than before, pushing up prices.

Holding a bunch of morning glory 35,000 in her hand, Ms. Ha said that this bunch of vegetables she bought from the wholesale market was over 30,000 VND/bundle, while before that, she took only 15,000 VND for wholesale.

“From morning to noon, customers come to lift it up, ask for the price and then put it down again, not yet sold. I have to divide this bunch into 3 batches, sell them for 12 thousand VND / bunch, but 10 bunches of vegetables still have 8. Going to the market is expensive but customers are absent, this country is smart, I have to take a short break from the market.” Ha sighed.

Sitting next to Ms. Ha, Ms. Luu said, because the price of water spinach is too high, today she only dares to take 2 batches to sell. The price taken at the wholesale market is 16 thousand VND / batch, but she only dares to sell 15 thousand VND for fear of “losing customers”.
