On the evening of June 5, 115 Emergency Center – Hung Vuong General Hospital (Phu Tho) cooperated with Hung Vuong Son Duong General Clinic (Tuyen Quang) to receive emergency treatment for an 8-year-old boy (residing in Tuyen Quang). Quang) suffers from dog bite.
The boy was taken to the emergency room by his family in a state of fear and panic with multiple injuries on his body. In which, the right apex wound is about 8cm, the left top wound is about 6cm deep, exposing the skull, the forehead wound is about 2cm and the right hand wound is about 1-2cm in size.
The doctors at the emergency room treated shock, pain, blood loss, psychological reassurance and immediately transferred to Hung Vuong General Hospital for emergency surgery.
Currently, the boy’s condition is more stable and is being treated – cared for at the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of Hung Vuong General Hospital.
Every year, Hung Vuong Health System receives dozens of dog-bite accidents in children, which are mainly caused by the carelessness of adults. Therefore, for families with dogs, it is necessary to keep the dog in captivity and muzzle, not let it loose, and children should not be in close contact to avoid unfortunate circumstances.
Besides, parents need to have their children vaccinated within 24 hours after being bitten by a dog. Especially for cases after being bitten by a dog, it is necessary to thoroughly wash the wound within 15 minutes with water and soap or clean water. Then disinfect with alcohol 45 – 70 degrees or alcohol iodine to reduce the amount of rabies virus at the bite.
