Arresting a taxi driver who stole money from Korean customers

On the afternoon of June 6, Hoan Kiem District Police (Hanoi) said that the unit had just temporarily detained the subject Vu Van Quan (SN 1981, residing in Xuan Truong, Nam Dinh) for property theft.

In addition to Quan, subject Nguyen Van Doc (SN 1980, hometown Giao Thuy, Nam Dinh) was also detained to clarify the act of consuming property obtained by other criminals.

Previously, Hoan Kiem District Police received a report from Mr. Kim KyungHyun (SN 1979, Korean nationality) about the appropriation of property.

Specifically, around 4:00 p.m. on May 29, after drinking alcohol in Luong Ngoc Quyen area (Hang Buom ward, Hoan Kiem district), Kim Kyung Hyun called a taxi to go to his accommodation at Discovery Complex apartment (No. Vong, Cau Giay district).

During the process of traveling in the car, Kim KyungHyun fell asleep. When he got to the apartment, he was called up by the driver, he checked his wallet and found that he had lost about 4 million VND. Because he didn’t have money to pay, the driver took him to his room to get money.

After that, Mr. Kim Kyung Hyun slept, at about 11 am of the same day, he discovered that he had lost a visa card in his wallet, checked and found that the card had been swiped by a stranger to spend at convenience stores, gas stations with the amount over 40 million dong.

Receiving the report, Hoan Kiem District Police urgently investigated. Through verification, the taxi driver is Vu Van Quan, driving a silver Kia Morning brand car, BKS: 30A-731.93.

At the police station, the subject confessed to stealing money and visa card of Mr. Kim Kyung Hyun. Quan told the story and invited a friend, Nguyen Van Doc, to swipe a shopping card with him.

During the investigation, it was determined that Vu Van Quan swiped his card to spend over 16 million VND, and Nguyen Van Doc swiped his card to spend over 25 million VND.
