Close-up of the 800 billion exhibition center in Ho Chi Minh City, built for nearly 10 years, still not finished

Ho Chi Minh City Planning Exhibition Center was started in 2013 in Thu Thiem urban area (Saigon riverside, Thu Duc city) with an investment capital of about 800 billion VND but so far construction has not been completed.

The work with quite unique architecture, 80% built, finished the rough part and then “laid mats” lying there, causing many items to be gradually degraded over time, making the face of the new urban area ugly.

This work is designed with a height of 5 floors, the block is tilted, bunched together, the steel block forms a triangle.

Currently, inside the building, there are only a few workers busy with construction and guarding. A small family of water traders also asked to stay temporarily to help take care of the project.

Outside the building has been fenced around, at the ground floor area, water is constantly stagnant when it rains, and building materials are scattered with rust. Around the work grass is overgrown, muddy and not yet officially allowed to travel.

Looking at the Thu Thiem urban area from District 1, the planning exhibition center is lonely and lonely in the middle of a wild weed field, in contrast to the bustling scene of construction workers in the neighboring buildings.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Architecture said that, after starting construction in the first quarter of 2013, this work is expected to be completed in 2015.

However, because 2015 did not reach the finish line in time, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee moved the inauguration date to the end of April 2016. Since then, the construction work has been trickled and it is not known when it will be completed.

According to the Department of Planning and Architecture of Ho Chi Minh City, the reason the project is constantly delayed is because the construction process is difficult, the choice of construction materials between the investor and the contractor has not been agreed. EASYThe project is expected to be completed in 2023. Once completed, the planned exhibition center will have a hall with 240 seats and an office for 40 people.

The work is for the purpose of displaying and exhibiting the city’s architectural plans, organizing specialized events, and meeting places for experts, residents and visitors.
