The ongoing chicken meat crisis in Singapore is caused by the island nation’s inability to import chicken from Malaysia, which supplies one-third of Singapore’s chicken production.

In fact, on June 1, the Malaysian Government took a move to ban the export of this country’s chicken meat with the aim of keeping the price of the domestic market stable, and at the same time ensuring sufficient domestic supply.

As for Singapore, the country is planning to import frozen chicken from countries such as Australia and Thailand as well as Brazil and the US in the coming weeks. However, this solution is still causing many chicken rice restaurant owners in Lion Island to doubt the quality it brings.
