Responding to a reporter’s question about the roadmap to increase tuition fees, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son said that according to the provisions of the Law, the Ministry of Education and Training has presided over advising the Government to issue decrees and regulations. about the fee framework.

Specifically, in 2021, the Government issued Decree 81 stipulating the tuition fee framework of public educational institutions and institutions from 2021-2022 onwards. At the time of preparation for issuance, the COVID-19 epidemic was complicated. Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training has proposed and submitted the final document to the Government, proposing to keep the tuition fee for the school year 2021-2022 as in 2020-2021.

“For the tuition fee frame for the following school years, with general education in 2022, the Ministry of Education and Training has specified in Decree 81. Specifically, from the following years, localities will base themselves on the specific situation. socio-economic conditions, consumer price index, local characteristics, and people’s actual ability to contribute to determine the tuition fee frame and applicable tuition rates in the locality. more than 7.5%/year”, Mr. Son said.

Also according to the Deputy Minister of Education and Training, localities will decide on tuition fees. In 2022, the epidemic situation has been controlled, but socio-economic recovery is still difficult. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education and Training issued an official letter dated May 23, 2022 to the ministries and branches directing the affiliated educational units to have appropriate tuition fees depending on the situation of each locality, sharing difficulties with the people. people.

The Ministry also strengthens the inspection of tuition fees and educational institutions to ensure compliance with regulations to avoid overcharging.

The Ministry of Education and Training has been assigned to continue researching and building a roadmap to increase tuition fees, especially, comprehensively studying the impact of this tuition increase on different audiences, especially students. members and families in need. On that basis, it is proposed to the Government to take necessary support measures.
