The Wall Street Journal cites leaders of manufacturers and greenhouses powdered milk in the US said that, despite the efforts of the US Government, the supply of powdered milk has not improved greatly.

The largest factory of Abbott – the leading powdered milk company in the US located in Michigan state is also expected to resume production of regular milk powder lines from the end of June.

In order to make up for the shortfall in supply, US officials have launched a series of measures such as activating the priority of materials for powdered milk production, as well as opening flights to transport powdered milk from Europe.

Some Retailers already saw positive signs such as Giant Eagle, a Pennsylvania-based supermarket chain that said the tension has eased with some products. Meanwhile, Iowa-based Hy-Vee is expected to have more milks in the next few weeks, including Gerber and Enfamil. Hy-Vee received several shipments of Similac milk last weekend and will have more available later this week.

However, Kroger – the largest US supermarket chain in terms of sales, said the supply of formula milk has not improved significantly. This business is still having to limit each customer to only 4 boxes of milk.

David Smith, CEO of the largest wholesale association in the US – Associated Wholesale Grocers, said that the supply of formula milk has changed very little in recent weeks despite the US importing more products from Europe.
