According to Mr. Hoai Rin, ingredients to process this famous specialty include: green mango, fresh chili, pepper, garlic, lemon and herbs. In particular, we cannot lack shrimp. Accordingly, after catching shrimp, they are soaked in salt water for about 10 minutes and then put in with the above ingredients, then brought to the table to enjoy.

“Before eating, the chef must squeeze a lot of lemon juice into the bowl to hold the shrimp and then cover the lid to prevent them from jumping out. Then, they shake the pot well so that the shrimp can absorb all the spices until the jump is over, it will be opened. If anyone comes to Vinh Linh for the first time, they will not dare to eat this specialty because the shrimp is still alive, bringing a chilling sensation in the throat. But just eat once, I guarantee you will fall in love with death, want to eat many more times”, Quang Tri man said.

When eating shrimp jumping, Vinh Linh people take a piece of rice paper, some vegetables and scoop a spoonful of shrimp salad, roll it up and dip it in soy sauce mixed with mustard. “Really, the deliciousness of the shrimp salad cannot be described in words, visitors have to come to enjoy it to really feel the deliciousness and the uniqueness. What’s more, the interesting thing about enjoying them is that only this sunny and windy land can have such a dish,” said Hoai Rin.
