US military experts give 3 reasons why Ukraine is ‘in trouble’ before Russia

Daniel L. Davis, a former US Army lieutenant colonel, veteran of Iraq and other military campaigns, is now a senior fellow at the Defense Priorities Center for Strategic Analysis.

“First, the current balance of power between the two sides in Ukraine clearly still leaning towards Russia. Second, the total amount of equipment that the West provides or promises is clearly not enough to generate combat power,” Davis told 19FortyFive.

The third reason, according to Mr. Davis, is human resources. This expert said that the total loss of life and property in Ukraine is huge if trying to push back Moscow.

The former US Army lieutenant colonel also noted that the combat activity of the Russian army is many times higher than that of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Mr. Davis believes that, in order to dislodge the Russian army from Ukrainian territory, Kiev must create an offensive force with modern equipment and the strength of at least 100,000 people.

In addition, these armies will need at least a year to assemble thousands of armored vehicles from Western countries, stockpile large quantities of ammunition, millions of gallons of fuel, spare parts, machine specialists, and more. hooks to maintain these vehicles and utility trucks to support all logistics needs.

After more than 3 months of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the parties have given inconsistent information about the number of dead and wounded. According to an estimate by President Volodymyr Zelensky last week, every day 60-100 Ukrainian soldiers die in battle and about 500 others are injured.

The most recent Russian military casualty figures were released on March 25. The Russian Defense Ministry spokesman said 1,351 soldiers were killed and 3,825 wounded in the conflict in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Western observers believe that the actual number is higher than the data published by the Russian side. President Zelensky said on June 2 that more than 30,000 Russian servicemen had been killed.

Previously, the British government at the end of April estimated that Russian forces had lost about 15,000 people. Western officials believe that about 40,000 Russian troops were wounded.

According to Ukrainian officials, nearly 1,900 educational institutions, from kindergartens, schools to universities, were damaged, of which 180 were completely destroyed. Other infrastructure damage included 300 cars and 50 railway bridges, 500 factories and about 500 hospitals.
