The price of RON 95 gasoline listed in the country on June 5 is 31,578 VND/liter. However, many gas stations in Ho Chi Minh City sell “premium” RON 95 and RON 97 for nearly 33,000 VND/liter, making people shake their heads in disgust.
On the afternoon of June 5, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (48 years old, living in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City) rushed to find a gas station because the fuel tank had bottomed. Stepping into a gas station on Bui Thi Xuan Street (District 1), he was quite curious by the signboard saying “High-grade gasoline RON 97-V”. For Mr. Tuan, this is a strange gasoline, the first time he heard the name.

Looking at the price list, he saw that this high-class gasoline costs up to nearly 33,000 VND/liter. Knowing that his old car doesn’t need such expensive and high-class gasoline, he carefully instructed the gas station staff to pour him 50,000 dong of RON 95-III gasoline.
“My car just needs to fill up with RON 92 gas. Now it’s too high to fill up with RON 95-III, no need for RON 97-V. Prices are escalating, gasoline is expensive, workers like me have to find the cheapest gasoline to save a little, doing business is not profitable …”, Mr. Tuan said.
Similarly, Mr. Dinh Van Loi (71 years old, living in Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City), what kind of petrol is poured into the tank is difficult to distinguish and verify. Therefore, while the price of gasoline exceeds the current threshold of 31,000 VND / liter, Mr. Loi said that he only needs to pour RON 95-III gasoline, not needing more advanced types.

“If the car has gas, I try to find gas stations that sell RON 95-III gasoline with the correct listed price of 31,570 VND / liter. The high-grade gasoline I have not used so I don’t know how it is, it is too expensive compared to the price. with my needs”, Mr. Loi expressed.

As noted, Petrolimex petrol stations in Ho Chi Minh City have replaced gasoline RON 95-III (priced at 31,570 VND/liter) into RON 95-V (priced at 32,170 VND/liter). These gas stations only sell 2 types of gasoline, RON 95-V and E5.
At the same time, many gas stations belonging to Saigon Fuel Joint Stock Company have posted signs announcing the supply of high-class gasoline products RON 97-V for 32,850 VND/liter. These gas stations sell 2 types of gasoline in parallel, in which they continue to sell RON 95-III and add RON 97-V.
Meanwhile, at gas stations belonging to other enterprises such as Ho Chi Minh City Petroleum Company Limited (Saigon Petro), Binh Trieu Petrochemical Company Limited… and private enterprises in District 1, District 3 and District 3. 5, Phu Nhuan district, Binh Thanh district… still trading in RON 95-III gasoline with the listed price of 31,570 VND/liter.
