India successfully test-fired ballistic missile

The Indian Defense Ministry said that it has successfully tested the Agni-IV missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.

“The test was carried out on the island of Abdul Kalam in the state of Odisha at 19:30 pm on June 6 ( India). The launch verified all operational parameters, as well as the reliability of the Agni-IV system. The successful test reaffirmed India’s policy of ‘credible minimal deterrence’,” the statement said.

According to Missilethreat.csis.org, the Agni-IV weighs 17 tons; 20m long; 1.2m in diameter and has 2 floors. Rocket carrying a 1-ton warhead, nuclear or conventional warheads fitted to the Agni-IV will depend on the mission of the crew. The firing range is in the range of 3,000-4,000km. The Agni-IV’s concentric target deviation (CEP) is about 100m.
