MacBook Air 2022 launched with a completely new design

Nearly four years after the big upgrade with Retina display, Apple continues to “overhaul” the MacBook Air with a completely new design. The machine is made more square, the edges are curved and the thickness is similar to the 14- or 16-inch MacBook Pro. The weight of the product is 1.22 kg, 11 mm thin with a monolithic aluminum shell.

In addition to design changes, Apple also brings the MagSafe port to the new MacBook Air, besides two Thunderbolt ports, a headphone jack but no memory card reader. The screen has a size of 13.6 inches, slightly larger than the old version with Retina resolution, a maximum brightness of 500 nit. Above is a “rabbit ear” containing a Full HD webcam with twice the resolution and light sensitivity of the old model. Apple says the machine does not need a fan system to dissipate heat when in use.

MacBook Air 2022 can quickly charge 67 W through the MagSafe port with the ability to charge 80% of the battery life in 20 minutes. The battery life of the device can be up to 18 hours after each charge. In addition, Apple’s laptop also has a 4-speaker system, a one-touch fingerprint sensor and a keyboard with standard size function buttons.

The device will come with the all-new Apple M2 processor. This chip line includes 8-core CPU, up to 10 GPU core options. Configuration options include up to 24 GB RAM (the starting version comes with 8 GB RAM, 8-core GPU). Selectable internal storage up to 2 TB SSD.

The MacBook Air 2022 starts at $200 more than the previous generation, from $1,199. The device will start shipping from next month but there is no specific delivery time. Colors to choose from include silver, gray, gold and black. The company will still sell the old MacBook Air using the M1 chip for $ 999.

Meanwhile, the MacBook Pro 2022 launched with only configuration upgrades, without any changes in design. The device will also use the M2 chip with prices starting from $ 1,299.
