Sri Lanka frees Russian passenger plane

The above A330-343 was detained in Colombo on June 2 at the request of the aircraft leasing company Celestial Aviation Trading Limited (Ireland).

The Sri Lankan court then ordered the plane to be banned from leaving Sri Lanka’s airspace before June 16. More than 200 passengers on the flight were arranged to stay at a local hotel.

The above ruling was overturned after the Colombo High Court of Commerce heard the petition of Sri Lanka’s Justice Minister Sanjay Rajaratnam, according to radio. RT.

The Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Sri Lanka Ambassador Janitha Abeywickrama last week and also issued a protest against the seizure of the A330-343 above.

Meanwhile, Russia and Ukraine are said to have agreed to a Turkish proposal to rescue millions of tons of grain stuck in the Ukrainian port of Odesa on the Black Sea.

“In the territorial waters of the neighboring country, the Turkish military forces will take care of mine clearance and they will also escort grain ships to neutral waters.” Izvestia confirmed on 6/6.

Russian warships will then escort grain ships to the Bosporus Strait in Turkey. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the world’s top two wheat exporters, has caused turmoil in world markets and soaring food prices.

During a session on June 6, European Commission (EC) President Charles Michel accused Russia of using food supplies as a “stealth missile aimed at developing countries”. According to President Michel, the Kremlin has pushed the world to the brink of a global food crisis.

Follow APRussian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) Vassily Nebenzia dropped out of the session to protest the above accusations of President Michel.

Russian Deputy Ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyansky later confirmed on the channel Telegram of Russia that Michel’s comments were so “rude” that Ambassador Nebenzia had to leave the meeting room of the Security Council.
