According to Doctor CKII Pham Thanh Viet, Head of Trauma Surgery, patient AB (50 years old, residing in Mang But commune, Kon Plong district, Kon Tum) was admitted to the hospital with left chest pain, increasing pain with fatigue.
Patients are examined by doctors and perform necessary paraclinical tests. Test results revealed a large tumor in the patient’s mediastinum. After the consultation process, the doctors indicated surgery to remove this tumor.
The surgical team successfully removed the tumor weighing 2kg to save the patient.
“The tumor was firmly attached to the lobes of the lung, pericardium, chest wall and major blood vessels. When performing dissection, we performed endoscopic de-adhesion and tumor assessment, then thoracotomy to remove the entire tumor. The process requires great care and attention to detail. The surgical team successfully removed the tumor after 6 hours of surgery”, CCII doctor Pham Thanh Viet information.
Health of patient AB has stabilized and is being cared for and monitored by doctors and nurses.
