In Ho Chi Minh City, the urban railway project of Ho Chi Minh City on the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien route has a total length of 19.7 km (2.6 km underground, 17.1 km high).

The project implementation period is from 2007 to 2021, the progress of the project so far has reached 90.6%. It is expected that the construction completion time will be adjusted at the end of the fourth quarter of 2023. The project uses a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA, formerly JIBIC).

For the Ho Chi Minh City railway project, the Ben Thanh – Tham Luong route has a total length of 11,042 km (9,091 km underground, 1,951 km long) with 10 stations (9 underground stations, 1 upper station). high).

This project, using loans from ADB, EIB, German Reconstruction Bank. The project implementation period is from 2011 to 2026, up to now, the construction of CP1 package “Construction of office buildings and ancillary works at Tham Luong Depot” has been completed, the remaining main packages of the project have been completed. The project is preparing to deploy contractor selection.

Referring to the responsibilities of stakeholders, the Ministry of Transport said that: “The above urban railway projects are invested by the People’s Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and assigned to management boards. projects under the city as the investor and the specialized construction agency under the city People’s Committee to appraise the design documents.

The Ministry of Transport affirmed: “The Ministry will continue to coordinate with the two cities, relevant ministries and branches to promptly solve and remove difficulties and obstacles, and support the People’s Committees of the two cities in the implementation process to ensure that they do not fail to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Transport. put projects into operation and exploitation”.
