Ukrainian lawmaker arrested at Moldova border

A media representative of the Moldovan Border Police said that Mr. Yakovenko had been taken to a detention center awaiting trial.

Viorel Tentiu, the head of Interpol in Moldova, announced that Yakovenko had been placed on the most wanted list following allegations by Belarus that he committed bribery and corruption crimes.

However, according to Reuters, searching for Yakovenko’s name in the public file of wanted people on Interpol’s website on the evening of June 5 brought no results.

Officials Ukraine and Belarus were not immediately available for comment.
