Wife commits adultery, husband gets prison sentence

On June 7, the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City opened an online trial for defendant Khong Minh T. (38 years old, living in Go Vap district, Ho Chi Minh City) for the crime of “destroying property”.

Accordingly, the bridgehead at the People’s Court of Ho Chi Minh City includes the jury, the representative of the Procuracy, the lawyer and the victim and related people, and the bridgehead at T30 Prison (Cu Chi) is defendant T.

According to the prosecution, around 9 a.m. on October 13, 2021, T. rode a motorbike to Phu Thuan ward (district 7, Ho Chi Minh City) to drink coffee. However, due to the epidemic period, no shops were open, so Toan returned to his company in Tan Thuan Tay ward (District 7).

When going to Jamona residential area (Phu Thuan ward), T. discovered Mr. Tran Anh Duc’s car was parked here. Mr. Duc is a superior and had an illicit relationship with Ms. Thai Thien Thanh (T.’s wife), although many times T. prevented and advised her, but his wife did not listen, and Ms. Thanh even filed for divorce and gave him a divorce. all 2 children for T. to adopt. Because of his love for his children, T. repeatedly held on and refused to sign the divorce papers.

After a while, T. discovered that Ms. Thanh was often sad, so she found out that Mr. Duc had left Ms. Thanh and was about to get married.

When he saw the car, jealousy arose, T. arose the intention to burn Mr. Duc’s car.

At about 12:15 on the same day, after buying 2 liters of gasoline, T. returned to the parking lot, poured gasoline under the car where the fuel tank was, and lit it on fire. Seeing the fire flare up fiercely, T. panicked and ran from the scene.

The fire from Mr. Duc’s car was so strong that it spread and burned down Ms. Cao Thi Hong Tuoi’s car, which was parked nearby.

According to the conclusion of the assessment, the total damage of the two cars was more than 1 billion VND.

At the trial, T. said, because she was angry about Ms. Thanh and Mr. Duc’s interaction, in her mind, she only thought of revenge but did not think that her behavior was illegal or wrong.

“After burning Mr. Duc’s car, the defendant could not sleep all night. The defendant was very regretful but did not know how to atone for his mistake”, said T. regretfully.

After their son caused a disaster, T.’s parents had to collect, borrow and actively find the victims to overcome all the consequences. Therefore, both Mr. Duc and Ms. Tuoi filed a complaint against Duc.

Asking the jury to say a few words to his son, T.’s father, sobbing, said, “I try to improve myself well so that every year the State considers reducing my sentence, returning soon to take care of my two children, and my wife and children leave me. Gone”.

Having the last word before the court deliberations, T. hopes the jury will consider giving the defendant the lowest possible sentence so that the defendant can return to take care of his parents and children soon.

Because the defendant committed the crime for the first time, the family made merit to the revolution and took the initiative to overcome the consequences. Therefore, after deliberation, the trial panel sentenced the defendant to 5 years in prison.
