Accordingly, on the morning of November 21, 2021, Le Thi Yen went to Huong’s house to discuss going to Que Phong to buy drugs and sell for a profit. At noon of the same day, Huong took 15 million dong from her safe, put it in her bag, and told Yen to drive a motorbike to the house of a man who did not know the exact address in Que Phong district to buy drugs. Trinh Thi Song Huong met an unknown male singer and agreed to buy 47,875 grams of heroin for 15 million VND. Huong gave the money to the young man and told Yen to take him to the National Highway to wait.
At the trial, Huong confessed her crime.
About 2 hours later, the young man came to deliver the goods. Huong took the drug up and told Yen to take it back to Tx.Thai Hoa. At 20:00 on the same day when Yen and Huong arrived in Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district, Nghe An province, the police discovered and caught them.
However, Huong said that she only followed Yen for “fun”. According to Huong, Yen was the one who invited her to buy drugs. “15 million dong, is the amount of money the defendant buys drugs to use to sell the family’s piglets. The defendant is borrowing from a bank an amount of VND 200 million for his son to treat AIDS. Yen promised that after selling drugs, she would give money to pay bank interest, so she had to agree,” Huong testified at the court hearing.

Defendant feels very remorseful for his actions. The amount of money the defendant took from the safe to trade drugs, her husband did not know. According to the defendant, because Yen invited him to say that he would return the money in a few days if he sold drugs, so he agreed. “The defendant is very afraid of her husband’s bullying (reprimanding – PV) for taking money to buy drugs. However, Yen promised to return it in a few days, so she agreed. The defendant asked the jury to reduce the crime so that he could return to raise the grandchild with her husband soon. The defendant injured five children very much. Her husband alone is afraid that he cannot afford to raise his grandchildren, the defendant Huong said softly.
Now discussing with us, Huong said that now her two children are also serving the sentence. According to the defendant, about 6 years ago, because they wanted their children to escape, the couple sent their first son to Vinh City to learn a trade. During the time in the city, the son brought with him AIDS. Then Huong and her husband were dumbfounded when they heard that their son was arrested for drug-related crimes and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Previously, Huong’s daughter was also serving a sentence for another crime. Two children were in prison, and five grandchildren had to be sent to Huong and her husband to take care of.
“The defendant feels very guilty. Since the day he entered the prison, the defendant has visited his son several times, encouraging him to heal and re-educate him. Now that the accused is in prison, he has no chance to visit his children. The defendant injured her husband and children. Since his arrest, he has visited the accused. My husband told me where I went wrong, fix it there. I just want to remind him to take care of his health to raise his children, … “, Huong lost her voice.
At the trial, Huong admitted her crime. Comprehensive review of the case The trial panel sentenced defendant Trinh Thi Song Huong to 15 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of illegal trading in narcotics. As for Le Thi Yen, during the investigation, Huong claimed to have discussed and agreed with Yen to go to Que Phong to buy drugs and retail together to make a profit, but Yen did not admit it. Yen claimed that Huong asked Que Phong to buy a pair of cows for meat, and Yen did not know about buying drugs and did not participate. Based on Huong’s testimony and documents and evidence in the case file, there are not enough grounds to determine that Yen has accomplices with Huong. The Customs Department will verify, clarify and handle later.
Receiving a sentence of more than 15 years in prison at the age of 57, the way back to her husband and grandchildren became more remote. I don’t know, does Huong’s husband have enough strength to bear the burden of raising a small child?
