A young girl in Buon Ma Thuot died after being bitten by a cat
On June 7, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Dak Lak province said that it had just recorded the second case of death from rabies since the beginning of 2022 until now.
According to CDC Dak Lak, earlier on May 25, HNH (16 years old, living in Cu Mblim village, Ea Kao commune, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province) showed symptoms of fever, fatigue, poor appetite, Fear of water, fear of wind.
On May 27, the patient was taken to the Central Highlands General Hospital by family members and was diagnosed with a rabies attack.
After that, the patient was asked by his family to be transferred to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment. Because his condition did not improve, his family asked to take him home and later died.
According to the patient’s family, on May 9, the patient was bitten on the hand by a cat but did not receive rabies vaccination.
Currently, Buon Ma Thuot City Health Center is continuing to monitor rabies in the area where the patient lives. CDC Dak Lak also proposed the Provincial Sub-Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine to coordinate the investigation, treatment and vaccination against rabies for dogs and cats in Cu Mblim village.
