Earlier on the evening of June 3, Van Ninh District Medical Center (Khanh Hoa) activated the inter-hospital red alert system on the case of a male NND patient (born in 1975, residing in Van Thang commune, Van Ninh district). Relatives brought to this medical facility for emergency treatment in a state of serious injury with a wound in the left chest due to external force by a sharp object.

After a journey of nearly 60km from the district to the province, at 20:08 on the same day, the patient was taken to Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital when he was severely stunned, sweating, pulse 130 times/minute, blood pressure 80/60 mmHg, arousal, and mortality.

After a consultation, the team of doctors and nurses from the Department of Thoracic Surgery and the Department of Surgery – Anesthesia and Resuscitation at Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital performed emergency surgery and opened the patient’s chest. Surgeons performed sutures to stop bleeding of the heart laceration wound in the lower right ventricular anterior aspect and suture the left thoracic artery branch. At 23:30, the patient was transferred to resuscitation and intensive post-operative treatment.

According to doctors of Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital, heart injuries are very serious injuries, if not treated promptly, the mortality rate is high. The case of NND patient mentioned above is one of the successful emergencies in Khanh Hoa after activating the inter-hospital red alarm system.
