Record numbers at VM Quy Nhon 2022

10,000 athletes compete

This is the first time a tournament in the VnExpress Marathon system has reached 10,000 participants. The record number reflects the attraction as well as the quality of VnExpress Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon increasing year by year. Of these, 1,400 people participated in the 42km race, 3,500 people ran the 21km race. Distances of 10km and 5km attract 5,100 participants.

The number of people running the two longest distances, 21km and 42km, accounts for about half, which also shows the quality of athletes participating in the tournament. Many people conquer a professional run for the first time.

With a large number of athletes, VnExpress Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon 2022 will create an exciting atmosphere in the coastal city this weekend. To create the best experience for a large number of athletes, the running track is guaranteed to be completely closed. Binh Dinh province considers this a typical event in the sea tourism season, so priority should be given to security work, to support for athletes and tourists.

Many marathon clubs with hundreds of members

VM Quy Nhon also witnessed many large running groups across the country participating with a large number of members. In which, there are 5 groups running over 100 people participating in the tournament.

Leading in the number of competitors is Binh Dinh Runners with 400 members. The tournament was held right on the “home field”, so it received a great response from the runners in the “martial land”. Next is adidas Runners Saigon with 239 members. The successful running team from Ho Chi Minh City is always a competitor for prizes at the tournaments they participate in.

The remaining running groups with more than 100 participants are Fleur De Lys (127), Vietcombank (112) and Son Tra Runners (102).

More than a billion dong prizes

Each full marathon and half marathon will have 3 finals and 5 age groups. The distances of 5km and 10km will be awarded according to the first, second and third categories. Each person can only receive one prize. Athletes who have received an overall award will not receive an age group award.

At a distance of 42km, runners who finish first, second, and third will receive prizes worth VND 40.4 million, VND 34.3 million and VND 25.4 million, respectively. With half marathon distance, 3 final prizes worth 18.1 million, 16.1 million and 12 million dong, respectively.

As for the full marathon distance, this year’s organizers expanded the awarding structure to the top 10, instead of the top 5, with two ages ranging from 31-39, 40-49. The total prize value at VM Quy Nhon exceeded one billion VND, divided into 128 prizes.

Nearly 2,000 people support the race

To ensure the best quality organization, serving up to 10,000 runners, about 2,000 employees were mobilized. In which, 1,000 volunteers are responsible for supporting athletes, logistics, ensuring running track safety, etc. These are students of universities in Binh Dinh province. They have the desire to spread the image of the hospitable martial arts land to friends at home and abroad.

In addition, more than 300 people are members of the organizing committee, along with hundreds of police and medical staff in Quy Nhon also on duty during the three days of the tournament to ensure the event goes on safely. The medical team of VM Quy Nhon 2022 includes 16 doctors, 22 nurses from general hospitals and medical centers in Binh Dinh province.

Officially starting on the morning of June 12, VnExpress Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon owns a road stretching through many beautiful scenes of the city.
