Revealing the largest exporting country for the Russian market
Belarus became the largest exporter to the market for the first time Russia.
The VNA quoted a source from Bloomberg as saying that in April 2022, for the first time in history, Belarus exports more goods to Russia than to Germany. Accordingly, Belarus’ exports to Russia increased by more than 100% in value.
Meanwhile, many longtime trading partners of Russia, including China, are reducing the supply of goods to this market.
Quantity of goods export to Russia from partner countries, which account for nearly half of Russia’s imports in 2021, fell by about 40% in April 2022 compared with the same period last year.
In addition, even China, which is not a party to anti-Russian sanctions, is reducing exports to this market.
Amount of goods exported from China to Russia has decreased since the beginning of the year. In January, exports from China were estimated at $7.4 billion, in February at $5.3 billion, in March at $3.8 billion, and by the end of April only $3.7 billion.
Turkey, Japan, and South Korea also reduced their exports to Russia.
According to data from “Otkritie Research”, Russia’s total imports last month could fall more than five times, from $27 billion a year earlier to about $5 billion.
