Singapore appoints new Deputy Prime Minister

Previously, Mr. Lawrence Wong was selected as the head of the fourth generation (4G) leaders of the ruling People’s Action Party, paving the way for him to become the future Prime Minister of Singapore.

Mr. Lawrence Wong, 49, will continue in his current role of Finance Minister while serving as Deputy Prime Minister. Mr. Wong is considered to be of great merit in helping Singapore overcome the COVID-19 pandemic as co-chair of the Government’s task force to combat the epidemic.

Choosing a successor as prime minister is always a carefully planned process in Singapore. Mr. Wong once emphasized, Singapore needs to look beyond to position itself in an increasingly complex, volatile and unpredictable world.
