Telegram responds to a security flaw that exposes the chat content of many closed groups

According to a share on Twitter, a user named adyingnobody recently claimed to have 137.21GB of text messages and chats in Telegram closed groups. This guy said he got these content by taking advantage of a security hole in the Telegram application, thereby stealing the content of many closed groups even if he is not a member.

Adyingnobody said it will release all 137.21GB of this data next week. This guy also said that Telegram’s technical team has been notified about this serious security vulnerability.

Immediately after this information was posted, Telegram Messenger’s representative, Remi Vaughn, emailed a response, confirming the above information is untrue and may be a conspiracy to spread malware.

In the email, Remi Vaughn asserted that Telegram’s security team had never been notified of such a security vulnerability. And a security hole as described by adyingnobody sounds like a fantasy.

Telegram’s representative added that this is indicative of a scam, capable of distributing malware to those who download the files the hacker published. Such scams are very common in the crypto community.
