The habit of ‘eroding’ the stomach of many Vietnamese people, causing damage to the digestive system and ulcers

Currently, in the world, there are two different views about breakfast. The first view considers breakfast as the most important meal of the day. Because after 8 hours of sleep, the body needs energy to help the brain stay awake. Breakfast will help the body have enough energy to function effectively throughout the day.

The second view holds that breakfast is simply a meal; Whether to eat breakfast or not will depend on 3 factors: age, nutritional status and lifestyle.

In fact, many people wake up with a feeling that they do not want to eat, even do many other jobs, and then eat breakfast.

Follow Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lam, former Deputy Director (National Institute of Nutrition), in terms of breakfast time, many people are doing not really scientific and reasonable. Currently, most people are eating breakfast “arbitrary” in terms of time. For example, with a group of office people, in the morning, after waking up, they usually go to the office to work, have meetings, report work, and then go to breakfast. This way of eating keeps doing from day to day, and gradually becomes a habit.

Or like the elderly often get up quite early, but after personal hygiene, they often go to exercise in the morning. After practicing on the way, they will either eat breakfast or go home to eat.

Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Lam recommends that the habit of eating breakfast “arbitrarily” in terms of time can affect the stomach and work productivity. Breakfast is very important and necessary for everyone, everyone should eat early after waking up, after personal hygiene. Because most people fast for about 8 to 10 hours at night, when they wake up with an empty stomach and a lot of acid, eating breakfast right after waking up is essential to protect the stomach.

“Working before breakfast will cause more acid to be secreted, which will greatly affect the stomach, leading to inflammation.” Dr. Lam analyzed.

Also according to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam, especially for the elderly, when waking up in the morning, it is often difficult to eat and drink but should not fast. This subject can have a light snack or drink a glass of milk before exercising. For other age groups, it is advisable to eat breakfast early after waking up to recharge the body.

According to the recommendations of the Institute of Nutrition, breakfast should be eaten after waking up about 20-30 minutes. Before eating, drink a glass of warm filtered water to reactivate the digestive system as well as purify the body.

Avoid fried foods in breakfast

Follow Dr. BS Nguyen Trong Hung, According to the National Institute of Nutrition, if the stomach is empty for too long, intelligence will also be affected. The reason is that when the energy is exhausted without being fully charged, the mind is not clear, the work efficiency is poor, and there may even be a few other problems such as dizziness, low blood sugar, bad breath …

According to nutritionists, a healthy breakfast should have starch, protein, fiber and vitamins. People should avoid eating fried, fried, sweet and fatty foods in the morning because it can cause bloating and indigestion.

In addition, people should also not eat frozen food, drink cold juice in the morning, instead should use warm food. In the morning, the body’s muscles, nerves and blood vessels are in a state of contraction, eating cold food will make it difficult for blood flow in the body to circulate, which is harmful to health in the long run.

In addition, nutritionists also recommend that people should not eat dinner too late. The best time to eat dinner is before 7pm and go to bed by 11pm.
