The reason The Debate Challenge is attractive to students

National-scale academic debate competition, creating opportunities to practice skills with international experts, participate in summer camps, receive certificates with a scholarship of 10,000 USD.

The Debate Challenge season one held last year attracted more than 100 teams. This year, the debate contest for high school students continues to return, with hundreds of contestants registering after two weeks of opening the qualifying gate. The contest continues to accept registration until the end of June 15.

The program creates a free skill-training playground for students during the summer, expands opportunities to connect with members who share the same passion for debate, and develops skills with practical training courses. Participating in the competition, contestants are introduced to the World School Debating Championship (WSDC) rules. Originating from the World Debating Championships for students, this is one of the common rules in debating competitions, creating a training foundation if candidates have the desire to compete internationally.

Debating is not a new subject, but there are still many young people who do not have a real training environment. The contest “The Debate Challenge” with a team of experienced experts will guide new contestants to get acquainted and develop skills from the structure of speech to body language and style. The contest is also open to members who aim to pursue a professional career with an international standard organization form.

Right from the qualifying round, the entries will be evaluated by a panel of experts and published on the website. This is also a way for candidates to realize their strengths and skills that need further practice. After the preliminary round, the 16 teams of the Vietnamese group and the 16 teams of the English group with the highest video scores will move on to the Summer Debate Camp – Qualifying Round (11/7-7/8).

Debate camp lasts 5 days with many series of activities to help each contestant improve his debating ability. Here, international experts bring training sessions on fundamental skills: critical thinking, research, presentation; argument building skills in debate. Contestants were also introduced to the WSDC competition rules, practice building with experts, and networking activities. In this second round, candidates will receive a certificate from the program, beautify their profile table. According to the organizers, some remote teams will be provided with accommodation when they arrive at the summer camp.

Along with a skill-building playground, the program has prizes including cash and scholarships at Swinburne Vietnam (scholarships for each team member). The national first prize includes 15 million VND and a scholarship of 10,000 USD; national second place is 10 million dong in cash, 8,000 USD scholarship; The third prize will receive 5 million VND in cash and a scholarship of 6,000 USD.

Debating is one of the important skills of the young generation, contributing to creating a successful foundation in the learning and working environment. The contest “The Debate Challenge” held this year brings a meaningful playground for high school students across the country, aged 16-19 years old. This is also an opportunity for them to approach debate, practice skills with experienced experts, enrich knowledge and life capital.
