2021 Mclaren GT $275,000 | The Real Life Drive Review | The corneal impression

McLaren has always been associated with race tracks and straight line speeds. So expecting a grand tourer with luxurious amenities for long-distance driving from the Woking-based automaker must have felt silly. But McLaren came up with a GT anyway, in its own sweeping and teardrop-shaped coupé body style, and it’s called the GT. The stern two-seater McLaren GT carries the same underpinnings as the 720S supercar and even features the same 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine tweaked to produce 612 hp and 630 Nm of torque. For a car designed to guzzle miles in luxury, the McLaren GT can still sprint from 0 to 97 km/h in 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 326 km/h. Nevertheless, you get comfortable seats and nappa leather as standard with the option of fine cashmere upholstery. With such firepower under the hood and McLaren’s famous lightweight approach, is the GT leaning towards a supercar on a diet, or is it really a long-distance cruiser?
