Cambodia threatened to cancel the Asian Cup qualifiers, the AFC immediately took action

Team Cambodia is present in India to compete in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers. Through the press, General Sao Sokha has proposed the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Indian Football Federation and the organizers of the qualifying round. The 2023 Asian Cup must send a letter of apology to Cambodia within 3 hours, otherwise the country’s team will immediately return home by plane just a few hours before the match against host India.

The reason for this harsh reaction is because the Cambodian national flag used by the organizers is not in accordance with the country’s regulations. Mr. Sao Sokha also said that the reception of the Cambodian team was not thoughtful.

Minutes after the statement of the Cambodian football leader, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) sent a letter of apology to the Cambodian Football Federation and outlined solutions.

“We regret that the Cambodian national flag in this tournament did not meet the exact requirements for design and color. AFC would like to inform that we will be showing the correct image of the national flag of the Kingdom of Cambodia. on the graphic screen in the upcoming match against India. This is also how we deal with similar cases.”the letter of the AFC wrote.
