Democrats and Republicans in the US Congress remain deeply divided on the issue gun control bullets, while the case shootings continues to take place, especially the bloody shooting at an elementary school in the state of Texas that killed 19 students and 2 teachers.
Across the US states, people have gathered to hold memorial services for the unfortunate victims of the shootings.
In the state of Texas, where the deadliest mass shooting killed many children, people in other states also came to line up to commemorate the victims. Up to this point, many people are still in shock about what happened.
Aida Hernandez, retired teacher, said: “I find it terrifying and painful, as I have been a part of schools for 43 years. I work at a preschool and every morning the door is open for the kids. All these little faces I still remember“.

Angela Leco, a resident of Chicago, USA, shared:I am very shocked by these incidents. Poor kids and parents. I can’t even imagine if something like that happened to me. It has to change because America is not a safe place anymore. We can’t even rest assured when we send our children to school“.
In the state of New Jersey, volunteer groups have sent trained dogs to the families of the victims in the hope that these new members will partly ease their pain. For most Americans, dogs are considered to be the best friends in the family.
Roman Rodriguez, a relative of the victim, said:I’m really touched to have one more thing to care about. I am a person who loves dogs very much. They help me feel more comfortable and forget the bad things that I have to go through“.
Sister Zaned, from Texas, said: “I feel very good. These dogs are just like children. It makes me feel calmer“.
In the past few days, in addition to activities to commemorate and support the families of the victims, many marches were also organized by gun control groups. However, according to recent general surveys, the percentage of Americans in favor of stricter gun control is at its lowest level since 2014.
