“I didn’t do anything, now is not the time to celebrate”
“Today we got our first win and reached the quarter-finals. I was very impressed with the players. Before the tournament, no one thought we could do it, but now the whole team has done it.
I don’t do anything here. The credit goes to the players, the coaching staff, the doctors who helped the team. I am very impressed with them. But we cyet to celebrate because there is still another match,” coach Gong Oh-kyun shared after the match.

Talking about sharing with players, Coach Gong said: “Before the match, I had a plan on personnel. I have no special reason at all. The players are all physically and professionally so good. I make a change.
For now, we’ll focus on recovery, then move on. I asked the players what they wanted, they said they wanted to reach a higher level. I understand and want to take them to the next level.”
After 3 matches, U23 Vietnam has 5 points, ranked 2nd in Group C. The opponent of coach Gong Oh-kyun’s team will be one of the teams in Group D: UAE, Japan or Saudi Arabia. The last match of Group D will take place at 8 pm tomorrow (June 9), Vietnam time.
