Russia produces “homegrown” laptops-Hi-tech fashion

The Russian company Promobit is preparing to produce the Bitblaze Titan BM15 laptop. The product will use the domestically produced Baikal-M processor.

Due to the Russo-Ukrainian war conflict, Russia has faced numerous difficulties, especially in the fields of technology, software and hardware. Russia is not allowed to use any products or ingredients that have been developed in the countries subject to sanctions. Google, Apple, Intel and many other large companies have completely canceled all forms of cooperation with Russia.

Even so, this is not a punchline but also an opportunity for the Eastern European country. In many respects, the situation will be similar to that of Huawei – the company then developed its own operating system – which could usurp not only Android and iOS in the mobile operating system market but also Windows on the PC market.

As for the Russian Bitblaze Titan BM15, it is a product that promises to be used by Russians in the context of the ban being introduced. This product has a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display. In addition, it also comes with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. Not stopping there, the product supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, has USB 3.0, HDMI, USB-C, RJ-45 interfaces and audio jacks. Finally, the product has a 6,000 mAh battery.

The manufacturer will offer the Bitblaze Titan BM15 in two material variants, including a regular aluminum alloy and a titanium alloy.

This configuration is basically acceptable, but it is still unclear how the product’s performance is. The most notable feature of the Bitblaze Titan BM15 is the Baikal-M processor developed by a Russian company. It uses only 28nm TSMC manufacturing process. In addition, it uses an 8-core architecture with Cortex-A57 cores running at up to 1.5 GHz. This chip uses Mali-T628 MP8 GPU with a frequency of 750 MHz, supporting dual-channel DDR4-2400 or DDR3-1600 memory. The chip’s power consumption does not exceed 35W. Finally, it is compatible with Astra Linux or Alt Linux operating systems.

The first batch of Bitblaze Titan BM15 will be assembled in the next few months, with about 1,000 units sold, with the main consumers being government agencies and corporate customers. The price of this product ranges from 1,608 USD (37.3 million VND) to 1,929 USD (44.7 million VND).
